Meet Desiree

Owner, Lead Guide (she/her)

The creator of Toba Tripper, say hello to Desiree. A proud Manitoban, born and raised in the heart of Canada. Having grown up and lived in Manitoba her entire life, she's lived in 5 different communities, in 4 different areas of the province. From winter roads and fishing in Northern Manitoba, to playing on the sandy beaches of Lake Winnipeg in the Interlake, to hiking in the Parkland and Riding Mountain National Park, to now learning and living in the hustle and bustle of our provincial urban capital - Winnipeg.

Desiree is a passionate photographer, avid outdoorswoman, mom, storyteller and travel marketer. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba, an integral part of her ability to understand the relationships between people, places and spaces. Desiree brings 10 years as a photographer and marketing professional, specializing in tourism. Having worked for Manitoba's provincial tourism organization the past few years, she's gained valuable insight into Manitoba's tourism industry and has represented Manitoba passionately.

Desiree created Toba Tripper to help visitors, tourists and Manitobans, see more, of Manitoba. All, of Manitoba.

 Stewardship

  • We honour the land through responsible tourism and follow Leave No Trace principles wherever we travel.

  • We choose local businesses and products whenever possible and consider the environmental and community impact of the choices we make.

  • We continually look for ways to reduce our footprint and operate thoughtfully, including being conscious of our use of technology and AI.

  • We create a safe and welcoming experience for people of all races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and backgrounds.

  • We stand as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and are working toward becoming Rainbow Registered through Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce.

  • We celebrate Manitoba's diversity and work to create experiences where everyone feels respected, comfortable, and that they belong.

 inclusion

  • We connect guests with local businesses, communities, stories, cultures, and experiences that make Manitoba unique.

  • We support local tourism by working with local businesses, tourism students, and community partners whenever possible.

  • We approach the people and places we visit with curiosity, respect, and a commitment to learning, including continuing conversations around Reconciliation.
